CBR 125r problem

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by avanti_rider, Feb 16, 2010.

  1. Hi guys,
I have a CBR 125r (i know, take it easy) and i have noticed lately that the bike's exhaust smells a little like fuel. Today when i dropped the oil in the bike it also smelt a little odd, (Can't decide if it is a fuel or just used oil smell), anyway, my question is, could this problem be fuel related? i have been using BP premium 98 exclusively for the last 1000km's. Is the fuel not being burnt and this causing the smell?

    Cheers in advance.
  2. Stop wasting your doh on the 98! You will probably get better performance too.
  3. Yeah, I agree with Elmo ^^^

The CBR125 runs best on RON 90 fuel. I wouldn't even put 95 in it.
  4. If it were carbied, I'd guess the float needle is not quite seating properly. but I understand these are FI(?).

So it seems like it is just running rich.

The above two are right, in that putting 98 can cause some bikes to run rich. Switch to normal petrol and see if the problem persists.
