Can't get a test ride of an M50! (Part vent, part question.)

Discussion in 'General Motorcycling Discussion' started by pdown, Mar 30, 2009.

  1. I'm thinking about buying a Suzuki M50 and would like to have a test ride of one, but I can't find any dealer with any demos. (I'm in Sydney's east.)

I've visited, called and/or emailed Procycles, Sydney City Motorcycles, Action, Close (that was a waste), and a couple of other I can't remember now - some say no, and the others don't even bother replying or calling back. I've been trying for MONTHS now.

Dammit, how can you sell bikes if you don't let people ride them?! I'm not going to spend thousands of dollars on a bike without testing it first.

Anyone know where I can get a ride? Maybe a hire place?
  2. heres 1

so im guessing your after a brand new 1 as u said your looking for a demo
  3. They're doing you a favour, that thing is bloody ugly. Looks like it was designed by an American.

I guess they're popular though, people must be buying them without a test ride, unless they know something we don't...
  4. Whats a lap around the block going to show you?
Are they knocking back tests or are they not in stock?

I bought my Bandit without a test as the dealers couldnt get enough to have floor stock. I had sat on one months before and I was sure it was my "next" bike so I took the plung and not regretted it.
  5. goz, what is that? M109? It's...different.
I'm happy to look at both new and second hand. But as they have no second hand, I thought a demo would be good.

Yeah, I know, but I kind of like it - it should compliment my...er...unique looks...nicely!

More than no laps! I don't think a half our or so - maybe more - is out of the question if I'm going to give them $10,000.
Bikes are in stock, but no demos.
  6. (Sorry to ask a dumb question) Have you looked at the Trading Post online? There were quite a few second hand M50s in Sydney last month.

    Good Luck
  7. You just picked a real bad time to buy one. They were selling for 10,500 ride away for march only so they could be all gone now? I know you'd ge a ride on one in Lismore :p
  8. Yeah but that would involve going to _Lismore_, *spit*.

I suppose it could be worse, the only one left might be in Casino.

Interestingly, the Lismore Triumph dealer was the only one in the state to have a new Street Triple ready for delivery back in Feb or so of last year when every other dealer was quoting six month waits.
  9. Yeah it would involve going to lismore, but it would seem us rural people cast into the arm pit of the world have readily availble bikes at competitive prices. I waited two weeks for a BMW with and uncommon combo of accesories, they were getting people from Melbourne up to get them because of the backorder
  10. Better prices than that are available :)
  11. Yeah, I've had a look there, and bikesales, com,au etc, but I'd rather go to a dealer 'cause I don't really know how to tell if a bike sold privately is is in good condition or not - at least with a dealer I will have (minimal) recourse if something goes bad.

Also I didn't think that most private sellers would want me riding their bike - dealers have insurance etc for that kind of thing.

Of course I could be wrong about the above - I'm willing to be educated. :)
  12. Can you give us a hint?
  13. PM'd you.
  14. ring team moto in blacktown and ask for brad, matt or chris
  15. m50 customised, 05 model

    heres your 08 model
  16. You sure?
  17. Just to tempt you more, here's my '08 M50 :)

  18. Ahh, so you're the Seat Tester over at the Secret Hideaway. I recognised the bags and rack before your name!

Your bike looks good. I like the solo seat.

    Is there a jealous smilie?
  19. Thanks mate.

Just FYI, I only managed to test ride a C50 before buying my M50 - demos being very thin on the ground. I was very pleased with my first long ride on the M50, as the handlebar position is more comfortable (for me) than the traditional cruiser layout.

I chose a '08 because it came in black as opposed to the two tone for '09 models.

    Good Luck
  20. So you're unsure if this bike is for you?
It sounds to me as if your mind is made up. Hence my question.
