Can you do the theory test first before getting your L?

Discussion in 'New Riders and Riding Tips' at netrider.net.au started by nelda, Dec 3, 2007.

  1. Is it possible?
My L course would be on 19th and 20th of Dec.
I know that I'm supposed to take the "competency" letter and do the theory test so that I can get my L license.

But can I take the theory test first? I want to be able to ride on my holiday...

    Cheers

  2. Unfortunately you can not.
When you pass the theory, they give you your license then.
The only thing I can think of is if your course is in the morning, do teh exam in the afternoon.
Also some motor registrys are open on the weekend, (Merrylands is). You could do it there, but not sure about that weekend though.
    Or try the monday, 24th.

"NSW motor registries and the RTA Contact Centre will be closed for business on the following days:

Tuesday 25 December 2007 (Christmas Day)

Wednesday 26 December 2007 (Boxing Day)

    Thursday 27 December 2007

    Tuesday 1 January 2008 (New Year's Day)"

  3. Thanks for that.
I guess I just have to exercise self-restraint.
