Can someone explain this in a bike sales advert.......

Discussion in 'Bike Reviews, Questions and Suggestions' started by Hawkeye, Jul 29, 2010.

  1. I saw a couple of adverts for a new 2009 CBR600RR.

One was described as 2009 HONDA CBR600RR 600CC 8 which was supposed to be a 2010 model and the other was described as 2009 HONDA CBR600RR 600CC 9 which is supposed to be a 2009 model.

So can someone explain what the 8 and 9 mean after the 600CC in the adverts. I'm confused!

  2. probably year of manufacture. The model may be the 2010 model, but it may of been built in 2008. The whole 2009 thing could be compliance year.
  3. Model years run from (IIRC) September or October of the previous year. So a bike built in November 2009 would be a 2010 model, whereas one built in August of 2009 would still be a 2009 model.
  4. I got feedback from the bike dealer and it is the model year and it should have shown CBR600RR 600CC A for a 2010 model but because Trading Post haven't updated the listing details it is showing wrong.

In fact the dealer mentioned that this bike is actually CBR600RR 600CC AA, the 1st A for 2010 model and A for ABS.
  5. Typos in online bike ads?

    Now I've heard everything.
  6. Never ridden in the rain. One fall in my driveway but otherwise perfect
  7. cool.
