Byrne to replace Bayliss for next 2 MotoGP Rounds

Discussion in 'Racing, Motorsports, and Track Days' started by rc36, Sep 18, 2005.

  1. Honda has announced that Shane Byrne will replace Troy Bayliss at the Camel Honda team for the next 2 GP's (Malaysia and Qatar)

This is apparently seen as a preparation for Byrne to go back to the Kenny Roberts Proton team next year with the team's confirming lease of Honda V5 engines to replace the KTM motor withdrawn half way through this season.

Also reported by the commentators at Motegi today is the rumour that, should Bayliss still be unfit for Phillip Island, superbike star, Chris Velmeulen, will be drafted into the Camel team to take his place at the Island.

  2. Well maybe shakey can shake things up a bit better that tryo's been able too
  3. Honda looks like it will be able to accommodate both of those scenarios, but, if Melandri is injured, who will sub for him for just the Qatar round, given that it can't be Byrne, and they wouldn't risk Vermeulen?
