Buying 748. What to lookout for?

Discussion in 'Bike Reviews, Questions and Suggestions' at netrider.net.au started by 7up, Apr 8, 2006.

  1. Hi Guys

I am hoping to be the proud owner of a Ducati 748 in the near future.

What sort of things should i be looking out for before i buy.

    thanks

  2. Make sure you have a good copy of the service history. If the timing belts have not been changed in the last 2 years, they could go at any stage.
If they do then it is a very expensive repair.

Everything else is much the same as other bikes.

  3. Um yeah and look out for Scumbag who will commence rooting your leg immediately upon purchase and is difficult to remove without a very large spatula.

  4. Keep an eye out for the latte stains! I've heard they are hard to remove.

  5. The other query is how close to a multiple of 20,000km it is.
This is probably one of the more expensive service procedures.

  6. so as long as the bike has a complete service history i should be fairly safe?

I have been warned about the 20K service. Does anyone know what sort of money we are talking for this service. People just tell me that it is very expensive but don't quote actual figures.

    thanks for the replies.

ps: Latte stains should polish out hopefully
