Buckled Wheel Repair (VIC)

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by 2wheelsagain, Apr 9, 2007.

  1. I've just noticed today I have a slight buckle in my front wheel. Who in Melb (Vic) could straighten this for me? Its only slight and its more the fact I know its there that bothers me.
I don't know how many times I've cleaned the wheels and not seen it before! :?

  2. Alloy wheels are tricky. They need to be pressed. I got one done, and it cost me $60, and needed a respray. I'm sure Bob martin engineering would have a crack... Pardon the pun, but they never guarantee that the wheel wont crack or weaken. Better to get some proffesional advice.
  3. Thanks. It's no biggie. It can stay until the tyre gets replaced then I'll have a think about it.

Anyone else have any other suggestions?
  4. yeah there is another mob some were in Hilderberg... I lost their deatails... All I remember is they specialise in mag wheel repair/rerolling.. and do a fine job of fixing motorcycle wheels...

Did BoB ever ofer any guarantees?? I know that they reject any job that will take to long to do...
  5. I can't recall knocking back any long jobs when I worked at BME.
The problem with alloy wheels is there is a chance they may crack during straightening. Having said that I've seen some hopeless cases come out fine & some with slight out of roundness crack. The older Suzuki wheels usually fix up fine, but the new one are a different matter.
If a wheel cracks during attempting to repair there is no charge, & you would have had to get another wheel anyway. Duncan.
  6. Thanks for the tips guys. BME looks the goods http://www.bobmartinmotorcycles.com.au/index.htm

Any idea of the place in Heidelberg? Unexpectedly, I'm off to Thomastown on Thursday and could drop the wheel off. :)
