Bright - via Noojee?

Discussion in 'Roads, Touring, Journeys, and Travel' started by Josh, Mar 30, 2006.

  1. I'm planning our annual trip to Bright and am working on a different route instead of up through Yea, Benalla etc. Is there an alternative through Noojee on the way to Omea without spending too much time on the highway? Or is there an alternative north that is a bit more exciting than the major roads? What about Whitlands? Are the the roads sealed through there?

  2. When are you going?

You can go via Mt Hotham. But that's a fairly long haul from MEL. Noojee to Willow Grove via Icy Creek, down to the Erica Rd, then left then right onto the Walhalla/Tyers Road, then through Tyers, out to Glengarry, out to Maffra, Stratford, onto Princes Highway, right onto Bengwarden Road which brings you out near Bairnsdale, then to Bruthern, Swifts Creek, Omeo, Dinner Plain, Mt. Hotham, down to Bright.

That'll keep you off the Princes Highway for the most part.

What would be nice if the Jameson-Licola road was sealed. That'd make for an awesome trip.
  3. Not going till November. Thanks for the tip, I'll look into it. :)
