Braking advice please...

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by Sheldon L, May 22, 2005.

  1. When I bought my XJ900S in March, the bloke fitted new front brake disks to comply with RWC. At first it was really noisy, but disks are looking more polished now and the scrapping noise has almost dissappeared. I'm still getting a tick tick ticking sound from the front, mainly when I lean right.
Also, when I apply the front brake the front end shakes a bit.
Will this bed in or should I be concerned?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Up to now I've read heaps on the forum and learnt a lot from the postings. Thanks for that too :)

  2. Sounds like you've got a bent, un-evenly worn, or runout disc.
Take it to a disc (brake) shop, preferably one that does bikes and get them to check it out for you.

Shouldn't be more than about $80 per rotor to have them straightened if their runout.
  3. Thanks koma.
    Good advice.
