my brake light sticks and wont come off, even when im off the brakes
try these steps:
Find the fuse for the brake light and pull it out.
Find the brake lightbulbs and remove them.
Disconnect the negative battery cable
when you depress the brake pedal and the wiring and the bulb is good , this is an other indication that the signal light switch is bad. the brake light fuse has power all the time. the brake light switch , goes through the signal light switch, then goes to the brake lights. so check all these
Try lubricating the small metal plunger that goes into the brake light switch, then pump it on and off a few times to spread the lubricant along the shaft...... The switch itself is coming on and staying on because the rod is not returning when you release the pedal.
Lean under the front brake lever and pull the switch wires............. brake light go out? Yep ? its the stuffed one. Repeat for the back brake switch wires. It will be a switch , probably back one, maybe a stuck/stretched spring.
