Bout to do my course & looking for a bike.

Discussion in 'New Riders and Riding Tips' started by Chucks, May 2, 2006.

  1. Hey all,

First timer here at the young age of 34.

I do my course in the ACT in a couple of weeks.

I read the article on buying a Peice of Shit (POS) as a first bike, makes a lot of sense.

Anyone recomend a suitable POS for 2K max?

Apologies in advance for repeating a question I suspect gets asked pretty often.

    I'm 90kgs & 5'8" if that helps.

  2. Welcome to the forum!
I'm a newb myself, got my first bike last weekend. I was looking for a POS, too. Eventually ended up with a 2004 bike having 3,500km on the clock :) . Could not resist the price tag - 3k$ below the new bike price.

Now waiting for inevitable first drop to happen ... :eek:hno:
  3. G'day.

You could probably find a Honda CB250 in that ballpark. Nothing flash but will get the job done.
  4. Been looking around and I think I may have to spend a bit more.

VTR250 looks like a good option.

  5. Welcome mate

you could probably pick up a kawasaki gpx 250 around that price

That was my first bike, extremely reliable never skipped a beat

or maybe even a honda cb250??
  6. Yes that is a nice bike Stookie, but a bit rich for me.

I guess I'm looking at about spending 4,500 tops.
