Basic questions on aftermarket pipes

Discussion in 'Riding Gear and Bike Accessories/Parts' started by Spud Gun, Mar 8, 2006.

  1. I understand that aftermarket pipes change the note of a bike, the look and increase the BHP, but is that it? Can you get different pipes from the same manufacturer for 1 make and model of bike? Do different manufacturers make different styles of pipe for a given model (high exhaust outlet, classic look, carbon, etc)? Do they all do the same thing to varying degrees (e.g. Staintune do more BHP but Yoshi has a better note)? Is it best to go with a good manufacturer or go for a pipe that best suits your needs?

  2. go for a pipe that best suits your needs
  3. I'd be interested to know what pipe suits a GS500 best. Do you have to change anything else or just whack it on!
  4. A GS500 is in such a low state of tune that all a pipe will add is a better noise.
  5. Maybe better throttle response due to the original being so heavily restricted and therefore provided easier/more flow??
