Aprilia rs250 coolant in crankcase

Discussion in 'Maintenance and Servicing' at netrider.net.au started by aprrs250, Feb 7, 2014.

  1. I have almost completed my first top end rebuild on my rs250, however just before reassembly of the top cylinder i noticed that small amount of coolant has dripped into the crankcase. Is there anything I can do apart from full bottom end strip down to clean.

  2. I'm no expert but could you just leave the bike for a bit have have it evaporate out?

  3. What more specifically is "a small amount" ?

It is a 2 stroke so all the fuel/air mixture will be flowing through the crankcase on its way to the cylinders, basically that's how the crank bearings etc get lubricated.

A few drops....don't worry about it, in the first few seconds of running it will be gone..

1/2 the crankcase full...you need to remove it before going any further.

  4. Thanks for the reply. Definitely only a few drops. Cant see a pool, can just see green drops on the crankshaft as i turn it.
