Anyone tried a Uniden GPS205 CB/GPS???

Discussion in 'Riding Gear and Bike Accessories/Parts' started by sly, Nov 22, 2005.

  1. I'm looking at getting a bike to bike intercom for me and the missus, as i understand it I also need a UHF radio. I found this http://uniden.com.au/AUSTRALIA/p_gps205_index.asp which looks like it'll fit the bill, allbeit having only 1 watt of power. The big + with it but is the radar detecter and knowing how far you are from other riders with the same unit.

Anyway, wanna make sure I'm buying the right gear, hate buying dudds. Has anyone got one of these things or heard anything about them???

  2. Just for the record. I looked into bike to bike communication about 6 months ago and found to set up a good system was $1,000 per bike for the Autocom with a Uniden. I am sure the radio I was looking at was 5 watt.

    Some further info here:
  3. The UNiden VOX is useless on a bike, better to get a system with PTT (Push to Talk).

A few sites to get some more info

http://www.amalgamate2000.com/sales/motorcycle__communications.htm (see the notes towards the bottom of hte page and a fair few other pages with info in there other thn just trying to sell stuff.)

After my own experiments, I'd tend towards getting a specific bike product like autocom or chatterbox and save yourself the pain. Failing that the PTT solution the first website offers could be a happy medium.

also appears to be a bit of info here
