Aftermarket Oil Coolers

Discussion in 'Bling and Appearance' started by nich_s, May 15, 2007.

  1. Considering an oil cooler for my 76 Honda cb750.

I have not yet had a mechanic issue that suggests i should look at temp control of oil but in saying that the engine has not be worked hard at all yet. I do intend to embark on some long road trips towards the end of the year and this is the reason for my query.

    A few questions:

    1. Given the factory motorcycle was not sold with oil cooler and i don't race the bike, is this a necessary additional accessory?

    2. Many of the 'custom' oil coolers are often alloy finned devices that replace your dipstick, screw into the oil galley (eg. Red Wing Nos Alloy Finned Iso Cooler) or replace the original oil filter housing - are these just for looks or are they a worth while investment.

    3. If an after market oil cooler for the cb750 is a worth while investment, what oil cooler could be recommended.

    cheers. nich
