Advice for buying new bike interstate.

Discussion in 'Politics, Laws, Government & Insurance' at netrider.net.au started by robbie, Aug 12, 2010.

  1. Howdy all

Can everyone offer what knowledge they have concerning buying a brand new bike from Queensland, when living in NSW.

I will be getting it transported to sydney and registering it here.
Unless anyone knows of any problems with doing this?

  2. I have JUST done that.
Basically bought from a QLD shop, they deregistered it for me, then shipped it to me. Called up AAMI and got a greenslip (one with a blank date, just make sure they know it's unreged)
From there i organised to get a blue slip done, if the bike is stock you shouldnt have a problem. After the blue slip, go to RTA with proof of sale, blue slip, green slip, and bobs your uncle.
  3. Shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure you've got the receipt to prove it's yours and provide proof of value for stamp duty purposes.

If you wanted to ride it interstate, it gets more complicated.
  4. Oh yeah and make sure its an original invoice, not a photo copy.
