Abandoned bike on the monash

Discussion in 'General Motorcycling Discussion' started by smee, Aug 24, 2005.

  1. Anyone travelling the Monash inbound just after the burnely exit heading towards Punt road notice an abandoned bike (looked like a 250 type kwaka I was in the far lane to notice specifics) parked in the emergency lane?
Wasn't any of our own was it?
    run out of petrol?
    Rider nowhere to be seen.

  2. I saw it just then.
Looks like a tow truck removal would cost more than the bike!
Best leave it there i reckon!
  3. yeah, maybe someone's cut his losses (or it's stolen and dumped, do they do that in Melbourne, it's a national sport up here?)
  4. Freind of mine from South africa was amazed when he saw dumped cars here.

Back home he recons someone would alwys grab them and fix them up.

    We're just shallow.

There must be love out there for this bike?

    Have we become so unforgiving?
  5. maybe someone got done DD...?
  6. but here you'd have to pay to fix it up so you can get a RWC, pay for rego, and most difficult prove ownership, 'yeah mate i found it on the side of the road' at the vicroads office probably wouldn't work out.

good for a paddock bomb though.
  7. DR...think about it.. :p :p
  8. I was going to say that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. hmm... I'll try and argue that technicality next time I get pulled over.
  10. It's still there.

None of you notice the note that was wedged between the rider and pillion seat?
  11. Not from my vantage point as I was in the far lane not the closest.
I was more worried about some of the erratic semi trailer drivers.
Yesterday one almost jacknifed 4 car lengths in front of me.
would have been an interesting predicament if it did jacknife.
  12. Yeh, it said.....:
    "Please dispose of thoughtfully"........
  13. You are getting old.

I too was in the far lane and saw it clearly :)
  14.
  15. theres a car on the eastern, brown old thing, noticed it for the last week, now it has a bright red notice on the windscreen.

you'd think if someone hasn't collected it by now, they wouldn't want to after a notice.
  16. So it doesn't send you blind after all...

      :p
  17. It's still there now. I passed it about 15 minutes ago on my little through the tunnel to listen to the exhaust note run. ;) I really have found too many ways to procrastinate work.

I was in the far left lane but didnt see a note attached to it; although i was keeping a close eye on a bunch of f'n semi-trailers that had boxed me in! :x
  18. Yeh, but in South Africa they grab them and fix them up while YOU still OWN them!!!

And then they SELL them to someone else so they can steal them again!!!

Insurance premiums in Seth Efrica ara appalling!
  19. Yeah but the Biltong is nice.
  20. I love Biltong.
