    Motorcyclist killed in collision with backhoe – Bega

    Police will prepare a report for the Coroner following the death of a motorcyclist after a collision near Bega yesterday.

    About 2:40pm (Tuesday 18 January), a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a John Deere backhoe were travelling south on the Princes Highway at Kingswood when they were involved in a collision.

    The motorcycle rider, a 41-year-old man from Spence in the ACT, collided with the bucket of the backhoe and was ejected from his motorcycle. He died at the scene.

    The driver of the backhoe, a 38-year-old Pambula man, was not injured during the incident. He was submitted to a breath test at the scene which returned a negative result.

    Motorcyclist dies – Roseville

    Police are investigating the cause of a crash in which a motorcyclist died while crossing Roseville Bridge earlier today.

    The Camden Park man, aged 29 was critically injured after being thrown from his machine on Warringah Road about midday.

    The man was rendered assistance at the scene by a passing doctor and emergency services, but died on arrival at Royal North Shore Hospital.

    Three out of four westbound lanes on Roseville Bridge will be closed for some hours and motorists are recommended to use alternate routes if possible.

    The exact circumstances of the crash are still being determined

    Teen motorcyclist dies – North Richmond

    Police from Hawkesbury Local Area Command will be preparing a report for the information of the Coroner following the death of a motorcyclist this afternoon.

    Emergency services were called to Grose Vale Road at North Richmond responding to reports of a serious crash involving a motorcycle and a car about 1pm.

    They arrived to discover a 19-year-old man suffering critical chest injuries after hitting a car and being thrown from his motorcycle.

    Paramedics treated the man at the scene but he died before he was able to be airlifted to hospital.

    Police have been told the motorcyclist was overtaking several cars when the first vehicle turned right and the two collided.

    Motorcyclist killed in crash – Cudal

    Police will prepare a report for the Coroner following the death of a man near Orange this afternoon.

    About 1.30pm (Sunday 23 January 2011), a motorcyclist was travelling along Davys Plains Road, Cudal (about 2km south of Bowen Park Road) when he lost control on a bend.

    The vehicle left the road and collided with a wooden pole.

    The 48-year-old rider from Orange was ejected from the motorcycle, colliding heavily with a nearby tree.

    The man died at the scene.

    When the man failed to return home, concerned family members went to look for him, alerting police to the incident.

    A crime scene was established by police and investigations into the cause of the collision were commenced.

    Man dies in motorcycle crash – Chittaway Point

    A report will be prepared for the Coroner after the death of a man in a motorcycle crash on the central coast yesterday.

    About 10.25pm, a 24-year-old man was riding a motorcycle west on Geoffrey Road, Chittaway Point, when it left the roadway.

    The man was thrown from the bike and hit an electricity box.

    Police from Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command attended and conducted CPR on the man but he died at the scene.

    Motorcyclist fatality - Casino

    A motorcyclist has died in a crash on the state’s north coast last night.

    About 11.45pm (Thursday 10 February), the rider lost control at the intersection of Centre and Johnson Streets in Casino.

    The man’s bike failed to negotiate the roundabout and it crashed into a guard rail.

    The rider from Grafton, aged in his mid 20s, died at the scene.

    Officers from Richmond Local Area Command are investigating the crash and believe speed and alcohol might be contributory factors.

    Police investigate fatal motorcycle crash – Beloka

    Police in the state’s south are conducting inquiries into a fatal crash near Jindabyne.

    About 3.15pm today, a Yamaha 900 motorcycle was travelling on Snowy River Way, Beloka, when the driver was ejected from the bike after turning a corner.

    The motorcyclist, a 56-year-old man, suffered significant injuries.

    Police from Jindabyne and Cooma Local Area Commands and NSW Ambulance Paramedics responded to the incident.

    The Victorian man was taken to Cooma Hospital but later died.

    Critical incident investigation after fatal motorcycle crash – Greenwich

    A Critical Incident Investigation Team will investigate the circumstances surrounding a fatal crash at Greenwich this morning.

    About 1:05am police were conducting random breath testing on River Road, Greenwich when a motorcycle rode past them at excessive speed.

    The Highway Patrol Officers returned to their vehicle and activated the police lights before driving east in an attempt to locate the motorcycle.

    Moments later the officers found the rider and pillion passenger lying on the road after being ejected from the bike following a collision.

    Police rendered first aid to the male rider, however, he died at the scene. The man is yet to be formally identified and his next of kin notified.

    The pillion passenger, a man aged in his 20’s, was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Royal North Shore Hospital where he is believed to be in a critical condition.

    A crime scene has been established and River Road closed while police conduct examinations of the crash site.

    A critical incident investigation team from the North West Metropolitan Region has been formed to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the crash with the information to be provided to the NSW Coroner.

    Fatal motorcycle crash – Glenugie

    Police will prepare a report for the Coroner following the death of a motorcyclist at Glenugie near Grafton yesterday afternoon.

    About 3:30pm a 59-year-old Queensland man was riding south on his Harley Davidson in a convoy with other motorcyclists on the Pacific Highway at Glenugie, approximately 10km south of Grafton.

    The man hit a depression in the road and lost control of his motorcycle which then fell onto its side and slid across the road.

    During the incident a 50-year-old man, who was also riding in the convoy, collided with the motorcycle and fell onto the road.

    NSW Ambulance Paramedics attended the scene and rendered aid to both men, however, the 59-year-old died at the scene.

    The injured man was taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition with chest and internal injuries.

    Officers from the Ballina Crash Investigation Unit attended the scene and conducted examinations of the crash site.

    Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are continuing

    Police appeal for information after fatal collision between a car and a scooter – Annandale

    Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal collision between a car and a scooter at Annandale tonight.

    About 6pm, a motor scooter travelling along Parramatta Road was involved in a collision with a maroon sedan near the intersection of Annandale Street and Parramatta Road.

    The female rider was thrown from the scooter. She was assessed on site by ambulance paramedics before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. She died a short time later.

    The male drivr of the sedan was breath tested at the scene and was taken to the same hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

    Motorcyclist killed in single vehicle collision - Old Junee

    Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal motorcycle collision at Old Junee in the state’s Riverina region.

    About 9.25am today (Saturday 12 March 2011), a man was riding a Suzuki on the Goldenfields Highway when the motorcycle struck a pole at a railway level crossing.

    The man, who has yet to be positively identified, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

    Police have spoken to a number of motorists who were in the vicinity at the time of the incident.

    An investigation is continuing into the circumstances surrounding the collision and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

    The Goldenfields Highway, which is the direct route from Wagga Wagga to Temora, has been closed to traffic whilst the investigation takes place.

    All vehicles are currently being diverted through the Junee township, however, police expect to reopen the roadway in the next hour.

    Police have released the name of a young man who died after a single-vehicle crash at Old Junee in the state’s Riverina yesterday morning.

    **** *****, 24, of the Wagga Wagga area, was thrown from the Suzuki motorcycle when it struck a pole at a railway level crossing on the Goldfields Way about 9.25am yesterday (12 March).

    Mr **** was thrown from the machine and died at the scene; the motorbike caught fire after the crash.

    Fatal crash – Wetherill Park

    Crash investigators are appealing for public assistance after a motorcyclist died following a crash in Sydney’s west yesterday (Friday 25 March).

    About 2.45pm, a Nissan Patrol was turning right from Vicars Place into McIlwraith Street at Wetherill Park when it was approached by two southbound motorcycles.

    One of the motorcycles, a Harley Davidson, braked harshly and slid along the roadway before the rider hit the four-wheel-drive.

    The 48-year-old male rider, from Fairfield, was taken to Liverpool Hospital but died a short time later.

    The 61-year-old male driver of the Nissan, from Cherrybrook, was uninjured, as was the other motorcyclist.

    Officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit are examining all circumstances surrounding crash and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

    In particular, they would like to speak with witnesses who saw any of the vehicles in the time leading up to the crash.

    Motorcyclist dies in crash near Dorrigo

    Police are investigating the death of a motorcyclist in a crash on the state’s north coast yesterday.

    About 3.20pm, the 61-year-old man was riding east along Waterfall Way at Fernbrook on his Triumph motorcycle when he was involved in a collision with a Suzuki Sierra travelling in the opposite direction.

    The rider died at the scene.

    The Suzuki rolled onto its ride and was hit by a Honda Civic which was travelling behind it.

    The two occupants of the Suzuki were taken to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital with minor injuries.

    The driver of the Honda, a 29-year-old man, was not injured.

    Double fatal crash – Mellong

    A report will be prepared for the Coroner after a motorcyclist and his pillion passenger died in a crash north of Windsor today.

    About 4.30pm a northbound Ford utility was overtaking another vehicle on Putty Road, Mellong, about 65km north of Windsor, when it struck a group of three oncoming motorcycles.

    Two men, aged in their forties, were thrown from one of the bikes and died at the scene.

    Three men travelling on the two other bikes received minor injuries and were taken to Westmead and Hawkesbury Hospitals for treatment.

    The 31-year-old female driver of the utility and her male passenger were also taken to Hawkesbury Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.

    Motorcyclist dies in crash – Condell Park

    The state’s Easter holiday road toll stands at two after the death of a motorcyclist in Sydney’s southwest last night.

    About 5pm, the 20-year-old man was riding east along Yanderra Street in Condell Park when he lost control at the intersection of Olive Street.

    The rider and motorcycle fell onto their side and skidded into the front yard of a home on Olive Street.

    The rider sustained major head injuries and was taken to Liverpool Hospital. He was pronounced dead about 8.30pm.

    Police from Bankstown Local Area Command examined the scene and will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.

    In another incident a man died when he fell off a motorcycle while allegedly performing a wheelie as he rode east along Yanderra Street at Condell Park.

    The 20-year-old man fell from the motorcycle and landed in the front yard of a home in Olive Street. He was taken to Liverpool Hospital where he died at 8:30pm.

    Fatal dirt bike crash – Blackalls Park

    The Easter Long Weekend road toll now stands at five following a fatal dirt bike crash north of Sydney last night (Monday 25 April).

    About 9.30pm, a dirt bike was being ridden along Rupert Street, Blackalls Park, when it crashed into a parked vehicle.

    Both the rider and passenger, who were not wearing helmets, were thrown to the ground.

    A 25-year-old Rathmines man died at the scene, while an 18-year-old Blackalls Park man suffered serious injuries and remains in John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.

    Officers from the Newcastle Crash Investigation Unit are now examining all circumstances leading up to the crash.

    Fatal collision - Gladesville

    Police are conducting inquiries into a fatal crash between a car and motorcycle at Gladesville.

    About 7.30am today (Thursday 28 July 2011), a man was riding his motorbike north along Pittwater Road, Gladesville, when he collided with a car at the Cambridge Street intersection.

    The motorcyclist, aged in his late 30s or early 40s, sustained significant injuries in the crash.

    He was taken by NSW Ambulance Paramedics to Royal North Shore Hospital, where he later died.

    Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit officers are conducting inquiries at the scene.

    Pittwater Road and Cambridge Street are partially closed to traffic with localised diversions in place.

    The male driver of the car has been taken for mandatory drug and alcohol tests.

  2. Still early on, so hard to see any trend just yet, but at least 2 of them have been identified as not being solo accidents, 1 young, 1 middle aged in the reports.

    As sad as it is i hope this thread if people can not speculate on the accidents but just the raw stated facts could be a very good learning tool for all us riders, and hopefully from that a way to make the list shrink by the following years

  4. I drove past that accident on roseville bridge yesterday... it was not nice. speculative talk removed rider down rules apply :(

  8. Guys this is the same sort of thread as the victorian one.
    It's not a rider down thread or speculative it just reports the facts as reported.
    Discussion is to be centred on the facts.
    Any speculation wil be removed any whinging will be moved to holding for admin to discuss and decide upon.
    Please no condolences or "very sad" comments this is not what this thread's intention is about

    This is reality and I strongly believe something all riders should keep in mind.
    Riding gives us so much but can taketh a lot more as things can go pear shaped very quickly.....

  11. Grange this is sombre reading but as mentioned previously, if this helps even one other rider in not what to do on the roads or to look out for certain things then surely it is worthwhile.

  15. The problem is that articles generally don't give you enough information, as to how an accident actually occured.
    No matter how anyone wants to say it, this and the other thread then let people "speculate" as to how a rider died in an accident.
    If you think that somebody can learn ride craft from reading a news brief, then they need to read from better informed places that news sites.

  17. Sigh. Grange, the intent of the rules was to stop the wild speculation and unjustified conclusions based on a rider's passing observation of a crash scene that they had no involvement in.

    Some speculation/deduction about the reported facts is substantially different and potentially helpful.
