2010 Suzuki VL250 or 2007 Kawasaki VN250?

Discussion in 'Bike Reviews, Questions and Suggestions' started by bretth, Nov 22, 2015.

  1. hi am trying to figure out what would be the best bike to purchase between these 2 bikes , they are approx. the same price 3990 for the Kawasaki and 4000 for the intruder , can anybody help a new lams rider to be decide on what would suit a 51 yr old new rider to ride to Brisbane every day and to be reasonably easy to keep on the road

  2. Hi bretthbretth ,
I rode a VN 250 Eliminator for awhile and they are a great 1st bike. Very forgiving and easy to ride but with enough grunt to get you out of trouble when overtaking etc. A mate had the VL 250 Intruder and sold it really quickly as it was seriously under-powered and dangerous when overtaking at highway speeds. Nothing worse than pulling out to overtake and the car accelerates slightly leaving you stuck on the wrong side because you don't have enough horses to do the deed or having to drop a gear when you hit a headwind. Doesn't happen on the Eliminator and they love carving thru the twistys when you get more confident.

The two bikes are very different :- Kawasaki is 34 hp, 6 speed, liquid cooled, longer wheelbase = more stable and lower seat height
Suzuki is 24 hp, 5 speed, air cooled.

Choice is totally up to you but having experienced both I would not even consider an Intruder. Hope this gives you a starting point for your purchase. There is a reason why there are so many low klm Intruders for sale........
  3. +1 for the VN
