2002 R6 2nd gear

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' at netrider.net.au started by Removed_User4, Feb 8, 2007.

  1. Does anyone have a quick fix solution or know someone who can tackle the job cheaply to the common second gear slippage in an 2002 R6?

  3. open it up and do it yourself
    its not too hard
had to do it to mine when 2nd gear crapped out on me
youl will prolli find that it will be more then just the gear dog aswel
but as ylwgtr mentioned get the gears back/undercut cut
when you got your gearbox apart

  4. This seems to be a big problem for the 99-02 bikes, lots of discussion about it in here.

The later models have 5 dogs the earlier ones have 3 dogs

As usual Yamaha denies that there product in inferior in the earlier models
and bought out the later stronger gear dogs by stealth
