On May 5, Bullough left his Crown St home on his Honda CBR600 motorcycle to visit a friend in Wagga. In court yesterday, the 20-year-old miner pleaded guilty to riding recklessly, furiously or at a dangerous speed. "He was held up quite extensively by quite a lot of traffic and roadworks," solicitor Danny Lagopodis told the court. "When he came up to the third works in progress he was very, very frustrated and let go of the throttle a bit." The full report notes that he was not apprehended on the day but the day after, and that the court accepted that while the speed was excessive, it was clocked on a piece of double-lane highway with good visibility. The rider was noted to have passed 11 cars and 3 trucks at this speed.
