02 SV650S Compression Check

Discussion in 'Bling and Appearance' at netrider.net.au started by conspiracytheorist, May 1, 2008.

  1. Hey just had a major service and they did a compression check as well as checking valve clearances and some other stuff. I was hoping someone could help me interpret the compression? They said it was good but if anyone could provide a bit more explanation :
    Cyl 1: 225
    Cyl 2: 225

  2. Too high for PSI (225/14.7= 15.3)
    Too low for kPa (225/101=2.22)
Too high for kPa if at 1225 kPa (1225/101.3 = 12.1)

Closest would be 1225 - possible if the injectors were primed during cranking - increase in density of air in the cylinder

does it look like there's a "1" at the start?

(I'm assuming the comp ratio for the sv650 would be somewhere between 10 and 11:1?
  3. Thanks for the response. Compression ratio is 11.5:1 I believe..

It has numbers 1 through 6 (I assumed for each cyl so I left it out), and space for other numbers, eg.

    That help?
  4. means its stuffed mate ill give ya $100 and take the risk!! :p
