Thundercat receiving some TLC

Average User Rating:
  • Hi,
Well as the title suggests, I've been using my 'Daddy Day' that I have with my 4 year old son, to teach him a thing or two about bikes, by stripping and rebuilding my YZF600R Thundercat. I had no preconceived ideas when I started what that was going to entail...just get Jimmy to pull stuff off, clean it up and put it (hopefully) back together!

Well, it's been about 6 months now, and we're at the turning point, where we can actually start bolting stuff back on! You might be able to see new front and rear suspension (rebuilt by Chads Off Road in Geelong), rear suspension and crankcase cover sandblasted and powdercoated. There'll be all the usual stuff, like chains, sprockets, filters etc, but there's some nice upgrades like the high tooth rear sprocket and 6sigma carb rejetting kit.

Would love to make this a bit of a naked bike; I have a single seater under the house somewhere, and i'm thinking of chopping the front fairing down, and having a belly pan. Thoughts?

Would be great to hear from others that have done the same, and to hear about your favourite Thundercat mod.
