The boy who cried wolf...Take No.2

  1. After what seemed like an eternity and many, many premature "melb departures".... The new hubby 2.0, lawnmower extraordinaire has landed! Dahahaha. Kinda feel like the American swim team just about now....

Or more like the Orange armada.....

After wrong parts installation, missing parts to extras and plain tardiness... Took long enough but things worthwhile are worth waiting for. The improvements on this bike besides HEATED GRIPS (y) are also a black box. Recommended by the 'man' himself..:woot:.

FINALLY, I can present - The new version 2.0... KTM Duke 390, called Metatron**.

**Metatron = (archangel) (Hebrew prob. derived from the Latin metator = a leader, a guide, a measurer, or a messenger).

The one that will get me on my way, and one which will be better at swerving skippies. :shy:

The name came also from the derivative of Metatron's cube .... which if you look at KTM's frame; makes sense.
Quite fitting really. Call me (more) nuts but who ever said that machines don't talk to their owners is quite mistaken.
As soon as the first sight/ride, they will communicate with you.
If you are willing to listen, and you refine your ear to its workings; machines will speak. Ask any good mechanic.

Now comes the running in period which will be harder for me than the bike! After owning 2 previous of these bikes, I think I know fairly well what they can do and how to red-line it at every gear change (not hard on a LAMS bike). We'll just have to play nice and sedately for the weekend clocking up the kms to test it before departing Melbs.

What ever the case... a few *ehem* tears were possibly shed on the first ride up towards the hills to scrub in tyres. Stopped long enough for a quick photo or two before sun down (including a tribute to a mob of skippies in the background!).... As far the the handling goes; for some reason this bike is behaving smoother than the last, even though it is a single cylinder... Or maybe it is just my sheer desperation to get back and experience riding again that trumps anything else.

Needless to say; This girl is in love. Again.:love: *sigh*

Nice bike! The KTM690 was in my sight when I decided to buy a new bike a couple of months ago, but I bought a Triiumph Triple R instead just because I got a good deal on a pre-owned one.

Maybe it has something to do with the awesomeness of the KTM?
