Now the wait.... My current ride is an XVS650, great bike but from time to time it runs out of puff, so I figured I'd just get a bigger cruiser. Went out and tested an XV1900 and for me, it was like riding a tractor (apologies to those here who have one), didn't like it at all. I also sat on a ZX-10, but the position I thought 'yeah, nah'.
Just thought I would drop a line in and say how much I am enjoying reading of peoples experiences, which for a new ( older ) rider like myself who does not have a lot of friends who ride, I have to say that I am finding it really useful to read of experiences and then adapt them for my own learning.
I have been on L plates...
As the end of my 2 week holiday approaches, an overnight trip on the bike was deemed necessary to test the new tent and sleeping mat.
Over packed, as expected. (1st pic) and headed out on a loop of the Mt BawBaw National Park, anti-clockwise.
Left home just after lunch yesterday and travelled via Yarra Junction to Noojee (2nd pic), then up Mt...
No longer on my LAMS restrictions, as of yesterday. Hooray!
So, I took my daughter out today for a trial run and she loved it. Only travelled 80km, but it seemed like more, probably due to the increased concentration level compared to riding solo.
Tomorrow, we're off to Seymour via Kinglake, Strath Creek etc..., so should be a decent second...
It's been mildly damp up in sunny Brisbane, so of course, everyone's lost their damn minds. Still, it's been fun to learn that it's a good idea to actually put on the rain gear that was thrown in with the bike to see if it fits. It did, kinda, but only just. It may also be so old that it's not as waterproof around the crotchal area as it once...
What had already been a pretty crook day almost got quite a bit worse: riding home on wet roads, the car in front of me shaped to go through an orange light then changed its mind at the last moment and braked hard. No way I was going to be able to stop in time, but I'm experienced enough to brake hard then get off the brakes and look for a way...
My bike came in today, and I feel about 8 years old again: all the memories of Lil'Yellowjacket learning to ride a bicycle at a foster kids camp down in Sorrento. Now bigger Yellowjacket is tearing around the north with a shit-eating grin on his face at the impressive speed of 50km an hour, occasionally and accidentally hitting his horn when...
Yesterday in the senate, Liberal Democrats Senator David Leyonhjelm delivered a speech on motorcycling
My son in law ordered and paid for a motorcycle jacket from a website: Quality Motorcycle Jacket & Helmet Equipment for Motorbike Riders . They offer brand name jackets and helmets for less than a third of retail in Australia. He should have known better; after he provided his credit card details he never got a receipt or confirmation, nor did they answer any inquiries. Even though it does not show on the website they are based in China and there is no way to contact them, once they have your money. If...
