Being new to riding. (Just got my licence at 57 and buying my first cruiser a Boulevard S40) I was reminiscing about my Dad's bikes he owned in the 50's. One was a BSA Bantam and the other a...

A short story
Not sure where to put this. It covers a few different threads so I thought I’d just come to the pub and spin a yarn.
Last year I acquired my dream bike. Well, an SP2 was the dream, but I was gifted a legendary RC51 in the SP1 trim by a proper standup bloke I’d met from this very forum, and eventually I sent him some cash to make it mine. I get heaps excited about new bikes and this new (to... -
I Have, ahem, I mean, My Wife Has A New Bike
So we just picked up a 2018 Ninja 400 in Kawasaki green.
It's intended to replace her 2016 Z250SL, but I have to admit I also have my greedy eyes on it for track days.
Pleased with the deal: $5k with 24,000 km, a full system, track stand and other mods, and just a couple of tiny cosmetic blemishes.
Might have to switch the stock can back on for days at Lakeside, where there are noise... -
Long Time Biker Advice
With age comes maturity??? And constant maintenance.
40+ years of bike riding, from farm to the freeway, complacency bites so constant reminders help.
So what advice can be shared with old and new riders?
Some thoughts…
. Keep your distance from everything when riding. (you will have to counter-steer one day).
. No such thing as bad weather only bad clothing, (old yachting saying that... -
Back after 14 years and i bought 2005 Honda VTR 250
So it was September 2007 when i last posted here...Long time away but i'm back.
Bought another ride last Friday and i have to say i'm really enjoying it. Got it because i'm really close to work and only need something like this for the less than 10 min ride to work (7 mins actually). Getting much enjoyment from this Pokemon. Bang for Buck, it was great value and rides like it was brand new.... -
The Far-Q trip (cause the borders may shut)
A while ago I made sure that my leave was into HR for approval and started to think about going south to do the annual Jindy meet up.
After a pretty cruddy 2020, and a cancelled Jindy, I thought more than other years, the 2021 meet up would be a great boost of morale to meet up with dear interstate friends and stretch those touring legs again. My bum has been missing being kms on the road and... -
Australia Tour
Hi Guys,
I know I have been missing in action for quite some time from here but that’s mainly due to health related issues I have been having since last year and ..... age lol
In any case, I’m on my final preparation steps to embark on a journey of a lifetime around Australia solo.
There are so many places I haven’t been to or visited at all, that I’m setting aside 3 months to complete the... -
Piglet in the mud
I don’t like riding on sand, and I really don’t like bulldust. Now I can add mud to the list.
Wednesday’s ride started with a side trip to the local post office in Glenden, before hitting the highway to Carnarvon Gorge. On my way to Glenden, a police car and ambulance roared past the other way. Interesting, as I’d be going that way as soon as I’d picked up my parcel. The post mistress... -
The Lawnmower is still king! Toowoomba weekend
The opportunity came up for a quick weekend away, to go visit some friends in Toowoomba since they've finished building a house and wanted to do an impromptu house warming. I didn't need another excuse .... This time the green eyed monster was starting to hit the Lawnmower, as Rumi has been getting all the attention lately. Friday night set the alarm clock, and fell asleep looking forward... -

Dutch MOST test
Got myself some new editing software, as the old one was frustratingly slow. Recorded a quick warm up lap in my office so I had some footage to play around with, giving me an excuse to play around with the software. This is quite rough, I`ll do some nicer ones at some point in the future. But this`ll get the idea across, might motivate some of you to use this for some practice.*edit* my... -
Fuel bladder or rotopax ?
Decided to post here cause us road boys rarely need extra fuel. In the planning , buying goodies stage , Got three months off soon so will be heading north using gravel roads where possible. No I DO NOT want an adventure bike , I love my vfr, more than capable for gravel roads. Just need extra range in case. Searched google and came up with all sorts of horror stories with sub frame breakage... -
Had a Barry on the Barry
The title overstates it a bit but the temptation was too great. It was an interesting adventure though. I’m a new rider (Melbourne) just off my L’s (a bit of dirt bikes when I was young, but nothing significant ) and we had a family gathering planned in Adaminaby, NSW for the week between Christmas...
